Hello, my name is Anna Miall and in October 2024 I began my QUADRAT studentship at Queen’s University Belfast. So far through my academic journey I have attained a BSc in Ecology and a MSc in Conservation Biology. As an individual I am draw to the natural world in my hobbies and spare time as well as in my research.

The PhD project I am taking on is entitled “Bridging invasive species with evolutionary theory: unleashing the potential of species traits to predict the impacts of biological invasions”.

My passion for invasion biology and the excitement in addressing major conservation concerns led me to pursue this studentship. I believe that the findings from this PhD could have real world impacts across the disciplines covered in my research. The ability to forecast an economical and ecological impacts biological invasion before introduction or establishment could encourage change in global policies regarding trade and travel as well as provide more effective conservation management actions used across the planet.
