Queen’s QUADRAT student Joe Ireland has recently had an article published in Women in Geothermal (WING).
The article discusses Joes transition from working in the oil industry to understanding the importance of environmental preservation, to then making the career change to geothermal energy through his PhD. It is a brave article documenting the ups and downs and challenges Joe has faced in his personal life and the knock on effects these have had on his mental health and career choices. He has overcome these challenges and is now happily continuing his journey as a PhD researcher. We are all very proud of Joe for battling through and voicing the negatives along side the positives and we hope that sharing this article will benefit others who may find themselves in similar situations.
