We asked Sodiq Solagbade Oguntade (cohort 4) to tell us a little bit about his career aspirations for the future, and how QUADRAT is helping him to achieve those goals. Here is what he told us:
Bio: I am a trained geophysicist and hydrogeologist with fieldwork experiences in Nigeria, Cape Verde, France, and the UK. I have worked in multidisciplinary teams and individually on quantitative groundwater modelling, managed aquifer recharge (MAR), groundwater sustainability and health impacts, hydrogeophysics, engineering geophysics and geothermal energy. My current doctoral training is investigating the impact of subsurface heterogeneity on the performance of aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES) systems.
What are your career aspirations?
I plan to work as a research geoscientist in the industry after my PhD.
How has QUADRAT influenced your career aspirations?
QUADRAT funding gave me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge in geoscience, and without this funding, I would not have been able to fund a doctoral training programme in the UK.
Did you do an internship? If yes, please tell us a bit about this experience. How has this influenced your career aspirations?
Not yet, but the opportunity to do an internship was one of the critical factors that made me apply for the QUADRAT DTP. I believe the internship will give me work experience required to get a job in the industry before or after I finish the PhD.
