Biography
School: School of Natural and Built Environment
Project: Fish Spas: the importance of turbulence on stress levels of fish in dynamic environments
Supervisors: Dr Louise Kregting and Professor Beth Scott
Undergraduate Education: BSc Marine and Freshwater Biology, University of Glasgow
Postgraduate Education: MSc Marine and Fisheries Ecology, University of Aberdeen
Research:
- Experimental work will take place in both the laboratory and field, with field work being partaken on Strangford Lough, a highly dynamic environment.
- Various species will be analysed including Salmonids and labriforms
- Stress will be analysed through the collection of cortisol in the most non-invasive ways possible which will be validated in the first experiments. ELISAs will then be conducted on the matrix of choice to determine stress response in varying habitats and species.
- The CASE partner supporting this project is Marine Science Scotland
